Trim Video: Cut the Start and End, or Remove a Middle Part

What is it?

Trim Video cuts a video down to the part that matters. Play it, set the start and end, and choose to keep that part or remove it. Fast mode copies the video as it is instead of rebuilding it, so it finishes in seconds with no loss of quality.

Who is it for?

People making short clips for WhatsApp status or reels, teachers cutting a class recording, event videographers sending highlights, and anyone removing an awkward moment from a video.

How to use it

  1. Choose a video and play it.
  2. Tap Start = now and End = now at the right moments, or type the times (like 1:05.5 or 65.5).
  3. Under What to do, choose Keep this part or Remove this part, and choose Fast or Frame-exact.
  4. Tap Trim video, wait for Working…, and download.

Fast or Frame-exact?

Fast is instant and keeps full quality, but the cut can start a moment early, because videos can only be cut cleanly at certain points (key frames). Frame-exact rebuilds the video so the cut is exactly where you chose; it takes longer. Removing a middle part always uses Frame-exact, and the parts before and after are joined.

Why does the first job take longer?

The tool uses a video engine (ffmpeg, the free engine inside many video apps) that runs in your browser. The engine is about 31 MB and downloads only the first time you start a job; after that it starts in a second or two. All the work then happens on your device, so a phone is slower than a computer for long or HD videos. Keep the tab open and the screen on until it finishes.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to us, and closing the page clears it.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “The end time must be after the start time, e.g. start 0:05 and end 0:20”: swap or correct the times.
  • The start is after the end of the video (…): the start time is beyond the video’s length.
  • The cut starts a little early: Fast mode starts at the nearest key frame, up to a second or two early. Choose Frame-exact for a precise cut.
  • Loading the video engine (31 MB, only the first time)… takes long: the engine downloads once, then your browser keeps it. Use Wi-Fi the first time.
  • The video engine could not start …: the download was interrupted or blocked. Check your connection, turn off data saver or an aggressive ad blocker for this page, and try again.
  • “This file could not be read. It may be damaged, or a format we cannot open”: play the file in your phone’s gallery first. If it plays, convert it with Video Converter and try again; if it doesn’t, the file itself is damaged.
  • “This file is too big for your browser. Try a shorter or smaller file, or a computer with more memory”: the browser ran out of memory. Close other tabs, use a computer, or cut the video into parts with Trim Video.
  • “This file is over 1.5 GB: too big to process inside a browser”: trim or compress it on a computer first.
