What is it?
The Hours and Minutes Calculator adds and subtracts lengths of time, such as 2 h 45 min + 1 h 30 min. It shows the total, and the same total in hours, in minutes, and in days, hours and minutes.
Who is it for?
Employees filling timesheets, freelancers billing hours, students adding lecture times, and video editors totalling clips.
How to use it
Write times to add, one per line (h:mm or h:mm:ss; start with − to subtract), like 2:45, 1:30:20 or -0:15. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.
Uses
- Weekly timesheets: add each day’s hours, then take out breaks with −.
- Total length of videos, songs or lectures.
- Driving or flight time over several legs.
Decimal hours for pay
Payroll uses decimal hours: 7:30 is 7.5 hours, 7:45 is 7.75, 7:20 is 7.33. Use the In hours result to multiply by an hourly rate, not 7.30.
Clock times
This adds durations. To find time between two clock times (like 9:15 am to 5:40 pm), type the end time and the start time with a minus: 17:40 and -9:15 = 8:25. For shifts across midnight, add 24:00.
Worked example
8:45 + 9:15 + 7:50 − 0:30 = 25:20, or 25.33 hours.
Errors and how to fix them
