What is it?
The Health Insurance Cover Calculator suggests a Health cover we suggest, shows what A big surgery in a metro hospital can cost, and the Extra to buy over what you have.
Who is it for?
Families buying or upgrading health insurance, and employees relying only on office cover.
How to use it
Choose Where you live (metro, big city or small town), the Adults covered, Children covered, the Oldest person’s age, whether Someone has diabetes, BP or a heart condition, and the Cover you already have (e.g. from work). The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.
How it is worked out
A rule of thumb based on hospital costs where you live, family size and age. Employer cover ends when you change or lose your job, so it is wise to have your own policy too. A super top-up is a cheap way to raise cover.
What to look for in a policy
- No room-rent limit, or a single private room allowed: room limits cut the whole claim (see the Health Claim Calculator).
- Short waiting periods for existing illnesses, low or no co-payment, and a wide cashless hospital network near you.
- Restoration benefit and no-claim bonus that raise cover over time.
Parents
Buy a separate policy for parents over 60 so their claims don’t use up the family cover, and expect higher premiums and co-payments.
This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. Read the scheme or policy documents, and ask a qualified adviser for big decisions.
Errors and how to fix them
- Extra to buy is zero: your current cover meets the suggestion.
