What is it?
The Color Converter reads a colour in any format (HEX, RGB, HSL or a name like teal) and shows it as HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK, with a contrast check for text.
Who is it for?
Web designers and developers, Blogger theme editors, print designers converting screen colours, and anyone checking that text is readable on a background.
How to use it
- Type any colour (HEX, RGB, HSL or a name), for example
#22d3ee,rgb(34 211 238)orteal. - Copy the format you need.
“Not a colour I can read”
Check the format: HEX needs 3 or 6 digits after # (#2de or #22d3ee); RGB values go from 0 to 255; HSL needs a % for saturation and lightness. Colour names must be CSS names, like navy, tomato or gold.
Contrast for readable text
- WCAG AA needs a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (about 24 px, or 19 px bold).
- AAA needs 7:1 for normal text.
- Low contrast makes pages hard to read on phones in sunlight, and accessibility checks flag it.
CMYK for printing
CMYK values here are a mathematical conversion. Printers use colour profiles, so printed colours can differ. For exact brand colours, ask your printer for a proof or use Pantone references.
