Battery Status: Level, Charging and Time Left From the Browser

What is it?

Battery Status shows your laptop or phone battery level and charging state from the browser, with an estimate of time to full or empty, updating live while the page is open.

Who is it for?

Laptop users checking charge during presentations, people testing chargers and cables, and support staff checking a device.

How to use it

  1. Tap Check battery.
  2. Read level and charging state: Live: this updates by itself while the page is open.
  3. Wait a few minutes for time estimates.

Test a charger

Plug in and watch whether the level rises steadily; a slow or stuck rise may mean a weak charger or cable.

Errors and how to fix them

  • This browser does not share battery information (Safari and Firefox keep it private). Try Chrome, Edge or Samsung Internet, or check your phone’s settings.
  • Shows 100% and plugged in on a desktop: desktops without a battery always do.
  • No time estimate: time estimates appear after a few minutes of use.

Questions people ask

  • Does it drain my battery? No noticeable drain; it only reads the level your browser reports.
  • Why does it show “unknown” time? The browser needs a few minutes of charging or use to estimate.
  • Can it check battery health? No; for health, use your phone’s Settings → Battery (iPhone: Battery Health), or a laptop battery report.

Windows battery health

Open Command Prompt and run powercfg /batteryreport; it saves an HTML report comparing design capacity with full charge capacity.
