What is it?
The Barcode Generator creates clean barcodes for products, stock labels, invoices, library books and ID cards. It supports EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14 and Codabar. For EAN, UPC and ITF-14 numbers the check digit is worked out for you, and a wrong one is pointed out with the correct number. Download a PNG for printing or an SVG that stays sharp at any size.
Who is it for?
Small manufacturers and shops labelling stock, warehouses, libraries, schools making ID cards, and anyone printing asset tags.
How to use it
- Choose the Barcode type.
- Type the Number or text. For EAN-13 type 12 digits and the 13th is added (“✓ Check digit … added”).
- Set Bar width, Height, the Bars and Background colours, and whether to show the text under the bars.
- Press Download PNG or Download SVG.
Which type?
EAN-13 for retail products in most countries, UPC-A in the USA and Canada, Code 128 for text and inventory labels such as INV-2026-0042, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, Code 39 for ID cards. Shops need EAN numbers registered to your company with GS1 (GS1 India in India); any number is fine for internal labels.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is opened and processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The first time, the tool downloads a free helper program it needs (from a public download server); your files themselves are never sent to us or anyone else.
Errors and how to fix them
- The last digit should be … (check digit), not …. Correct number: …: the number you typed has a wrong check digit; use the corrected number shown.
- “Type 12 digits (the check digit is added for you) or all 13”: EAN-13 needs exactly that many digits (EAN-8: 7 or 8, UPC-A: 11 or 12, ITF-14: 13 or 14).
- “This barcode type takes digits only” or “UPC-E takes 6 to 8 digits”
- Code 39 allows A–Z, 0–9, space and - . $ / + % only. and Code 128 can only hold English letters, digits and common symbols.
- Will not scan: print black on white, at 100% scale, with a clear white margin on both sides.
